In order to build true grassroots power, Sikh Family Center has always prioritized hearing directly from the grassroots. We continue to conduct regular assessments and listening exercises with the Sikh community in the U.S., in order to:

Raise awareness & community engagement through the assessment process
In 2009, before Sikh Family Center was even formalized, we conducted our first survey. These activities necessarily bring to the fore voices that may otherwise not be heard.
Armed with the bold responses from sangat members, we created a more extensive survey. From 2011-2013 we conducted in-person paper surveys at gurdwaras. Then, we launched an online survey, which was even more extensive. Responses from 500 Sikhs from across the US showed:
