In order to build true grassroots power, we have always prioritized hearing directly from the grassroots. Sikh Family Center continues to conduct regular assessments and listening exercises with the Sikh community in the U.S., in order to:
- Hear community priorities
- Collect reliable data and statistics
- Raise awareness & community engagement through the assessment process
These activities necessarily bring to the fore voices that may otherwise not be heard. In 2009, before SFC was even formalized, we conducted our first survey.
Armed with the bold responses from sangat members, we created a more extensive survey. From 2011-2013 we conducted in-person paper surveys at gurdwaras.
