WHAT’S OUR MOTIVATION?

In 2009, a few motivated members of our community undertook the task of developing and administering the first known bilingual Sikh-specific needs assessment in the U.S. to better understand our community’s needs and to help develop programs that addressed those needs. The results from this first need assessment survey motivated the creation of the Sikh Family Center. We believe in learning from the community and providing relevant and crucial services to the best of our ability.

Phase 1 of the needs assessment was conducted in-person using paper surveys that were available in both Punjabi and English. We collected 500 responses in total. Here is what we learned:
